Piers Morgan has taken to social media to vent his anger and call for Arsene Wenger’s sacking after seeing Arsenal dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round after a dramatic 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners fell behind in just the 20th minute when Eric Lichaj headed the home side into the lead at the City Ground.
However, holders Arsenal drew level just three minutes later thanks to Per Mertesacker’s equaliser.
But the home side went in ahead at the break when Lichaj added a second in the 44th minute.
Ben Brereton’s penalty made it 3-1 to the home side in the 64th minute, before Danny Welbeck netted in the 79th minute in a thrilling cup tie.
However, Kieran Dowell then scored from the penalty spot in the 85th minute to wrap up the victory for Forest and dump holders Arsenal out in a shock cup upset.
Morgan has been one of Wenger’s fiercest critics in recent seasons following Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League since 2004.
And celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan, who said on Twitter back in 2015 that he owns a £160,000 stake in the club, was clearly not happy with what he was seeing on Sunday afternoon.
With Arsenal trailing, he posted the following message on Twitter: “#WengerOUT.”
And shortly after, the former Daily Mirror editor
delivered a blunt verdict on the result, adding: “4-2. Played off the park by a team that’s 14th in the Championship. A new low even by Wenger standards.”
Arsenal will now look to dust themselves down as they prepare for their League Cup semi-final first leg clash against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
