Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has hinted that on loan Everton forward, Henry Onyekuru won’t be a part of his squad for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Onyekuru who is on loan to Anderlecht from the Merseyside outfit is out injured at the moment, and despite the player insisting he won’t be needing surgery, Rohr has revealed that he will undergo surgery.
Just like his Belgian side Anderlecht, who insist that he will be operated, Rohr revealed he will go under the knife in few day times, and his time of recovery will take at least five months.
” Onyekuru will be operated in few day times and he could be out for four, five months “, the coach disclosed in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
The time frame of four to five months set by the coach as when he will be fit, effectively means he won’t be a party of the squad of Nigeria to the World Cup starting in June.
20 year old Onyekuru has scored nine goals for Anderlecht, but he is now back at his parent club Everton for medical checks after injuring his knee and he will remain there for rehabilitation after surgery.
One of the revelations of the Belgium league last season, he has failed to establish himself as a regular in the senior national team of Nigeria, no thanks to the options available to coach Rohr in attack
