When someone cut Karen Lipford off while driving, she was annoyed at first. But when she saw the license plate on the car in front of her, she was suddenly very thankful.After the car cut her off, Karen recognized the license plate numbers — after all, they’d been all over the news.
The black Mazda that cut Karen off was actually a stolen vehicle. And there was a kidnapped baby inside.
The 6-month-old baby had been in the car with her mom and another passenger when the three of them stopped off at a 7-Eleven. While Mom went inside to get something from the store, the passenger slipped into the driver’s seat and drove away. She took both the car and the baby with her.
Police were searching for the stolen car, but hadn’t found it yet. That’s when Karen called 911.
Because Karen had recognized the license plate numbers on the car that cut her off, she was able to help police locate the stolen car — and the kidnapped baby who was bundled up under the covers in the back seat.
Now, baby and Mom are back together again, thanks, in part, to Karen’s mindfulness.
